Women
Women´s Football
At North Star Academy FC, we believe football is not only a sport, but also a pathway to dignity, recognition, and opportunity. In The Gambia, as in many parts of Africa, women and girls face significant challenges that often limit their aspirations. While football may not solve every challenge, it can offer a powerful light along the journey.
In our very first season, we proudly launched our women’s football team, which quickly made an impact by reaching the promotion playoffs in the Gambian Third Division. This success reflects the passion and talent of our players, as well as our commitment to providing opportunities for women in football.
But this is just the beginning. Alongside the senior women’s team, we are developing a girls’ academy, designed to identify, recruit, and train young female players. Our vision is to create a space where girls feel safe, valued, and supported, both as athletes and as individuals.
We are committed to building an inclusive academy that trains players from the youngest ages, while also serving as a platform for partnerships with NGOs, schools, football clubs, and sponsors who share our mission. Together, we can ensure that women and girls in The Gambia – and across Africa – find a place where their dignity, talent, and future truly shine.
