Community
a community where football and family stand as One
We are committed, as a club and as people, to harness the power of football for community development in the Gambia and beyond. We feel deeply embedded in Upper Niumi, the homebase of our club, and actively look to include those in and around us to benefit from – and to take part in – our outreach efforts, our team celebrations, and the team league matches.
The Annual Summer Camp, one of North Star’s flagships, in partnership with Goals for Gambia, brought together over 100 school-aged children for intensive football training, mentorship, and life-skills sessions, free of cost. The camp also served as the launchpad for a borehole-drilling project to provide safe drinking water in Gambia and Senegal, demonstrating that the Academy’s commitment extends to tangible infrastructure and wellbeing.
Another one of our aims is the promotion of a vibrant regional following, one that is inclusive and genuine. We have hosted traditional celebrations within the community at our facilities in Kerra Jatta, most recently for the promotion to the 2nd division and also for the pitch opening. These gatherings reinforce how the success of the team is shared by local families and the neighbouring villages. The club sees itself not just as a sports entity but as a community anchor, helping build pride and collective identity in Upper Niumi.
North Star has made targeted donations to encourage wider participation—particularly among women and girls.
